One of the most critical element of an ancestral domain claim involves the identification, location and marking of the boundary corners of the extents of a community’s’ ancestral domain. This requires the actual boundary survey and mapping of the extents of the territory and land being claimed. This highly technical requirement of the claim process is both difficult and expensive making it out of reach to most Indigenous Communities. PAFID provides direct assistance to communities in the survey, delineation and mapping of the extents of their traditional landa and territories. PAFID utilizes both traditional as well as state-of-the-art tools and methodologies such as Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assist communities in their efforts to secure their ancestral domains.
